A former Lexington Police Department Detective and Officer, Tyler brings nearly a decade of police and investigative experience to his government and police law practice.

He represents officers during critical incidents and officer involved shootings, and defends the expanding area of lawsuits filed against police officers, such as malicious prosecution, illegal search and seizure, false arrest and excessive force.

Tyler served as a patrol officer and field training officer for three years before earning his detective shield. He spent five years as a detective in the LPD Bureau of Investigation’s Special Victims Section and Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC), where he investigated abuse allegations, reviewed and analyzed electronic records, used forensic tools to extract and analyze data from mobile devices and computers, and testified in court proceedings. He also served in the Bureau of Special Operations Hazardous Devices Unit, responding to calls involving hazardous devices, explosives, and suspicious packages.

During law school, Tyler served as an intern for the Fayette County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office while continuing his full time work with the Lexington Police Department.
