Sturgill Turner attorney Kevin G. Henry was awarded the 2026 Fayette County Bar Association’s highest honor, the Henry T. Duncan Award, at FCBA Law Day on May 5, 2026.

“The most important thing I can say today is ‘thank you’ to all of the people who served as mentors and guided me throughout my career,” he said.

Kevin’s selection reflects more than four decades of principled advocacy and service. He has spent 46 years in civil litigation with a concentration in complex financial and fiduciary matters. His work includes trial and appellate representation across banking and bankruptcy disputes, trust and estate litigation, contract and shareholder matters, director and officer liability, class action defense, professional malpractice, and insurance coverage issues. Clients rely on Kevin for careful analysis, practical strategy, and steady leadership in high‑stakes situations.

Over the course of his career, Kevin has handled matters that helped clarify important areas of Kentucky law, including published decisions involving governmental immunity for municipal and county entities and affiliated organizations. He has also represented clients in prominent bankruptcy and restructuring proceedings and has advised institutional clients on significant commercial agreements. His matters span industries and client types, from family businesses to public entities, nonprofit organizations, and individuals.

He has also devoted significant time to strengthening the profession. Kevin served as President of the Fayette County Bar Association, as an officer of the Kentucky Bar Association’s Appellate Advocacy Section, and as a member of the 22nd Judicial Nominating Commission for the Kentucky Court of Justice (2012–2020). He is a Founding Fellow of the Fayette County Bar Foundation.

Kevin’s work has been consistently recognized by his peers. He was named Best Lawyers in America® 2025 “Lexington Lawyer of the Year” in Banking and Finance Litigation for the third time, and he has also been recognized as “Lawyer of the Year” in Trusts & Estates and Bankruptcy litigation. He has been selected as a Kentucky Super Lawyer each year since 2007.

Service to the community has remained central to Kevin’s career. He coached the University of Kentucky College of Law Bankruptcy Moot Court Team for 15 years and has served for more than six years on the YMCA Metropolitan Board of Directors, including as Treasurer and Finance Committee Chair, earning the YMCA of Central Kentucky’s Red Triangle Service Award. He also served as organizing counsel for the Toyota Bluegrass Miracle League and Green Forests Work, two nonprofits with a lasting regional impact.

Kevin joins Sturgill Turner member Pat Moloney, late member Steve Barker, and founding members Don Sturgill and Gardner Turner as FCBA Duncan Award winners.

The Henry T. Duncan award was created in 1960 to honor a member of the association who had made an outstanding contribution to the community. The award is presented to an attorney whose integrity, leadership, and professional conduct serves to exemplify the high ethical and professional standards that benefit the community.
