Andrew DeSimone Named Chair of DRI’s International Medical Liability and Health Care Law Committee
Sturgill Turner attorney Andrew DeSimone has been appointed Chair of the DRI Medical Liability and Health Care Law Committee for 2025-26. DRI is the leading international organization of civil defense attorneys and in-house counsel, serving more than 16,000 members with innovative educational programming, resources, and advocacy.
The Medical Liability and Health Care Law Committee is one of DRI’s 30 substantive law committees and specialized litigation groups, fostering dialogue and development in key areas of defense practice. Andrew’s appointment reflects more than a decade of leadership within DRI and his deep commitment to the defense bar.

Andrew has served as Vice Chair of the Committee since 2023 and has held numerous leadership roles within DRI, including:
Chair of the Medical Liability and Health Care Law National Seminar (2020–2022), where he also served on the faculty
Member of the DRI Publications Board
Member of the DRI Litigation Skills Committee
Member of the DRI Membership Committee
In addition to his national service, Andrew is actively involved in the Kentucky Defense Counsel, where he most recently served as President of the Board of Directors (2024–2025). In August, he was awarded the DRI Exceptional Performance Citation (2021–2025).
A nationally recognized trial and appellate attorney, Andrew focuses his practice on the defense of medical negligence, health care, insurance, and governmental claims. He has successfully represented healthcare professionals, hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities in complex litigation and regulatory matters, including claims of negligent care, wrongful death, and abuse or neglect. He is a frequent speaker on medical negligence issues for DRI and other regional and national organizations.
