Kevin Weaver Receives 2006 Kentucky Outstanding Young Lawyer Award

Sturgill-Turner is pleased to announce that Kevin W. Weaver, a member of the firm, has been awarded the 2006 Kentucky Outstanding Young Lawyer Award which was presented to him by the Kentucky Bar Association, on June 15, 2006. The award is presented annually to an attorney under 40 years of age who demonstrates excellence in their legal practice, devotion to the bar, and service to the community.
Kevin is the founder and president of Bluegrass Miracle League, Inc., Kevin is heading the effort to build a special surface baseball field in Lexington’s Shillito Park for use by special needs children throughout central and eastern Kentucky.
In addition to the Outstanding Young Lawyer Award, on May 1, 2006 Kevin was also awarded the 2006 Fayette County Bar Association Outstanding Citizen-Lawyer Award, an award which recognizes distinguished civic activity and exemplary legal services to his clients and the bar.
Kevin has served on numerous local and statewide civic and political boards and committees. In 1999, Kevin was presented a civic award from Downtown Lexington Corp. for his contribution in furthering the revitalization of downtown Lexington. He currently serves as vice president of the board of directors of Downtown Lexington Corp. and is a member of the Rotary Club of Lexington and UK’s Sigma Alpha Epsilon House Corp.
Kevin graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1994. Prior to law school, Kevin attended UK as one of the first recipients of the Otis A. Singletary scholarship, the largest merit scholarship ever awarded by UK. He was admitted to the Kentucky Bar in 1995.
Kevin, a native of Bowling Green, lives in Lexington with wife Kristi and their daughters, Libby and Maggie.
