Kevin is an experienced civil litigator in the areas of premises liability, insurance defense, contract disputes, and estate contests, having successfully tried numerous jury and bench trials across the state of Kentucky.  Kevin has extensive experience in appellate cases before the Kentucky Court of Appeals and the Kentucky Supreme Court.  He also practices extensively in the area of workers’ compensation, representing self-insured and insured employers before administrative law judges, the Kentucky Workers’ Compensation Board, the Kentucky Court of Appeals and the Kentucky Supreme Court. His experience in workers’ compensation law includes loss control and liability assessments, defense of injury and death claims, settlement negotiations/mediations, medical fee disputes, defense and initiation of re-openings, and Medicare Set-Asides.

Kevin’s service to his clients, the Kentucky and Fayette County bars, and his community has not gone unnoticed.  He was named the 2006 recipient of the Kentucky Bar Association’s Outstanding Young Lawyer Award, presented annually to an attorney under the age of forty who demonstrates excellence in his legal practice, devotion to the bar and service to the community.  He also received the Fayette County Bar Association’s 2006 Outstanding Citizen-Lawyer Award in recognition of distinguished civic activity and exemplary service to his clients and the bar.  Kevin was first named a Kentucky Super Lawyer by Law and Politics Magazine in the civil litigation defense category in 2007.  In 2008, Kevin was elected a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America, a trial lawyer honorary limited to 3,500 lawyers nationwide, representing less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers.  He was then selected to the 2012 edition of The Best Lawyers in America^® in the practice area of Workers' Compensation Law – Employers.  Kevin received the Downtown Lexington Corporation’s 1999 Smiley Pete Award for his contributions to furthering the revitalization of downtown Lexington and for having the greatest impact that year on how people felt about downtown Lexington.  The 350 member Rotary Club of Lexington presented Kevin with its 2006 Action Rotarian Award as the most active Rotarian who made a major difference in the community on behalf of the Rotary Club.

Kevin is a University of Kentucky Fellow and a member of the University of Kentucky College of Law’s Lafferty Society.  Most importantly to Kevin, he is the husband of Kristi Weaver and father to two wonderful daughters.
