BACKGROUND: Merrie is from Blacksburg, Virginia but she has called Lexington, Kentucky home since 1999.
Originally embarking on a career in academia, Merrie earned a M.A. in English from the University of Alabama and worked toward a Ph.D. in English at the University of Kentucky. She taught writing to college freshmen at both the University of Alabama and the University of Kentucky. Merrie was also a college administrator for a brief time before pursuing a career in law. She joined Sturgill, Turner, Barker & Moloney, PLLC in 2003.
