Appellate Practice
In today’s world, every trial attorney is also an appellate attorney. And Sturgill-Turner is no different. The Sturgill-Turner appellate attorneys are experienced in handling civil appeals at all levels of state and federal courts. Appellate proceedings require attorneys to have extensive knowledge of the special procedural rules and deadlines and exceptional writing and oral argument skills. Our experience in appellate matters cover a broad range of areas and range from common to novel evidentiary issues, necessary to preserve or overturn trial court judgments. Our firm offers clients a full range of appellate services, including coordination at the trial level to frame legal arguments at an early stage of litigation; drafting writs, briefs on the merits, and amicus briefs; and analysis of when and where to pursue further review. The firm also monitors appellate developments to alert clients to the potential effect of recent court rulings. Of course, the most important advice our firm offers is how to avoid complex and expensive litigation that often ends with an appeal.
