GENERAL LITIGATION

Sturgill Turner’s trial lawyers have a significant amount of courtroom and advocacy experience, providing our firm with the resources to resolve even the most challenging legal issues. With more than 700 civil jury trials collectively tried by our attorneys, we have the knowledge, abilities and skills to provide a wide array of litigation services. These services include pre-suit investigation and analysis, pre-trial practice and procedure, experience-based evaluation and negotiation techniques, and effective trial advocacy at all levels of state and federal courts and before numerous administrative bodies. Although the firm is based in Lexington, our attorneys handle cases throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky on a daily basis.

In today’s world, every trial attorney is also an appellate attorney, and Sturgill Turner’s trial attorneys are no different. Our attorneys are experienced in handling civil appeals at all levels of state and federal appellate courts, as well as administrative appeals. Appellate proceedings require a thorough knowledge of special procedural rules and deadlines, as well as exceptional writing and oral argument skills—all of which our attorneys possess. Our experience in appellate matters covers a wide variety of areas, ranging from common to novel evidentiary issues that are necessary to preserve or overturn trial court judgments. Our firm offers clients a full range of appellate services, including coordination at the trial level to frame legal arguments at an early stage of litigation; drafting writs, briefs on the merits, and amicus briefs; and analysis of when and where to pursue further review.

Many of our attorneys are involved in organizations that are devoted to defending the interests of business and individuals in civil litigation, such as the Defense Research Institute (DRI), the Kentucky Defense Counsel (KDC) and the Bluegrass Claims Association. Two of our members, have served as president of the KDC and one of our members has been selected to serve as the Kentucky State Representative for the DRI for a three-year term beginning in 2012.
