Firm Culture
At Sturgill Turner, our mission statement is “Serving with Integrity”. Inherent in this mission is a triad of commitments to:
1. Serving our clients with integrity.
For more than 50 years, Sturgill Turner has been committed to providing our clients with quality legal services in a timely, efficient and economical manner. Our attention to client service began in April 1957 when Don Sturgill, Roy Moreland and Gardner Turner started practicing law together in Lexington as Sturgill, Moreland & Turner. Their dedication, hard work and integrity created a solid foundation that has allowed us to grow into a premier law firm representing local, regional and national clients. In addition to providing exemplary legal service, we guarantee that we will be prompt, professional and passionate in our representation.
2. Serving our people with integrity.
While the firm has celebrated numerous legal victories for its clients, we know that the true hallmark of Sturgill Turner is its people. The firm recognizes that success in any endeavor requires knowledgeable, professional and dedicated personnel. We place great emphasis on employee satisfaction, and as a result, the firm is a eight-time “Best Place to Work in Kentucky” and a three-time recipient of the Alfred P. Sloan Award for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility. We credit our people with creating a culture where the client comes first.
Sturgill Turner does more than just practice employment law, we put ourselves at the forefront of employment issues through strategic partnerships that enable our firm to develop proactive and innovative HR policies and procedures. For example, the firm is a member of the University of Kentucky’s Institute of Workplace Innovation (iWin), a workplace think tank of top employers in the Bluegrass Region who are committed to bettering the workplace. Relationships such as our iWin partnership allow us to stay abreast of employment issues that are important to both our clients’ employees and our own employees, thus bettering our ability to counsel our clients on workplace matters and improving the manner in which we interact with our own people.
3. Serving our community with integrity.
Community service is part of our heritage at Sturgill Turner. Our employees are actively involved with, and support, many civic and community organizations, such as:
- Bluegrass Crime Stoppers
- Chamber Music Festival of Lexington
- Downtown Lexington Corporation
- Lexington Clinic Foundation
- Lexington Picnic with the Pops
- Lexington Public Library
- Rotary Club of Lexington
- Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure
- Toyota Bluegrass Miracle League
- YMCA
Our lawyers are devoted to giving back to the bench and bar and serving the public through pro bono representation and community outreach efforts. They are active in, and support, the philanthropic activities of the Kentucky Bar Foundation, the Kentucky Bar Association, the Fayette County Bar Association, the Fayette County Bar Foundation and the Maxwell Street Legal Clinic.
