Receives Henry T. Duncan Award in recognition of professional service
Stephen L. Barker, a partner with Sturgill, Turner, Barker & Moloney, PLLC, has been named the 2011 recipient of the Henry T. Duncan Award.
The Henry T. Duncan Award is the highest honor bestowed by the Fayette County Bar Association to recognize annually a member of the bar whose integrity, leadership and professional conduct exemplifies the high ethical and professional standards that benefit the community.
Barker, a Lexington native, has so benefitted the community with his service as Assistant Fayette County Attorney, Fayette County Legal Aid director, Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Ethics Commission member, Fayette County Bar Association president and Kentucky Bar Association Ethics Inquiry Commission member.
A trial lawyer for more than 30 years, Barker’s practice focuses on labor and employment law and education law. He serves as Kentucky’s only representative member in the Employment Law Alliance—a network of more than 3,000 lawyers that provides labor and employment law expertise in all 50 states and more than 120 countries—and he was recently recognized by Best Lawyers as Lexington’s 2011 “Lawyer of the Year” in the area of labor and employment law.
Barker is also a certified mediator, focusing on cases involving civil and domestic relations property disputes.
Barker is the firm’s third winner of the Henry T. Duncan Award, joining Sturgill, Turner, Barker & Moloney’s founding partners Don Sturgill (2000) and Gardner Turner (1995).
