BACKGROUND: Derrick grew up in Brooksville, Kentucky. He attended the University of Kentucky, earning a B.A. in Political Science. After graduating from UK's College of Law in 2006, Derrick served a two-year clerkship with U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert E. Wier. In 2008, Derrick joined Sturgill, Turner, Barker & Moloney. Derrick's wife, Laura, is from Bardstown, Kentucky, and works as a nurse. They both happily call Lexington their home and enjoy attending UK football and basketball games.
